Scientists have found a new species of scorpion in Tucson's backyard.

According to a ZooKeys research article, the Vaejovis brysoni was discovered by Robert W. Bryson Jr. and inhabits the Santa Catalina Mountains.

The new species was found at night above Molino Basin on the Catalina Highway near the Seven Cataracts Vista.

It is described as relatively small-bodied. The female described had a body length of 27.5 mm. It is light to medium brown with light brown to yellow coloring on the legs.
