Mt. Lemmon drainage lining project starts next week | News
Mt. Lemmon residents and visitors alike should know, that beginning Monday, November 4, the Pima County Department of Transportation, and its contractor, Granite Construction, will begin work on a drainage lining project on Mt. Lemmon Highway.
Work will consist of placing a waterproofing liner into existing drainage pipes to prevent water from entering the roadway.
Crews are scheduled to work from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Construction crews will line 31 pipe culverts starting just south of milepost 24 and work their way down the highway to approximately milepost 9, finishing up by January 2014.
The work will be confined to the drainage pipes under the road, but due to limited roadway width, traffic control will be required and lane restrictions and partial lane closures will be in effect. Drivers should be aware flaggers and pilot cars will be utilized when necessary.
PCDOT is reminding motorists to obey traffic control signs and speed limits throughout the construction zone.
